This article describes how the default value is assigned to the
1099 Box field when you upgrade Microsoft Business Solutions – Great Plains 8.0 or Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0.
When you upgrade Microsoft Business Solutions – Great Plains 8.0 or Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0, the system examines whether any vendors have the
Tax Type field set to
Miscellaneous, to
Dividend, or to
Interest. If the system finds any vendors that have the
Tax Type field set to one or more of these tax types, the following behavior occurs:

If a vendor has the Tax Type field set to Dividend, the box number in the 1099 Box field is set to 1a. The Description field for this box number displays 1a Ordinary Dividends. |

If a vendor has the Tax Type field set to Interest, the box number in the 1099 Box field is set to 1. The Description field for this box number displays 1 Interest. |

If a vendor has the Tax Type field set to Miscellaneous, the box number in the 1099 Box field is set to 7. The Description field for this box number displays Nonemployee Compensation. |
To see the
Tax Type field for each vendor, follow these steps:

On the Cards menu, point to Purchasing, and then click Vendors. |
| 2. |
Click Options. In the Vendor Maintenance Options window, you can see the Tax Type field. |
To see the
1099 Box field, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Open the "1099 Details" window. To do this, point to
Purchasing on the
Cards menu, and then click
1099 Details.
Method 2
Open the "1099 Details Inquiry" window. To do this, point to
Purchasing on the
Inquiry menu, and then click
Vendor 1099 Details.
